Update COVID measures São Paulo State

The state of São Paulo returns to the red phase of the quarantine starting next Monday (12th). The measure will remain in effect until April 18. The announcement was made at a press conference of the state administration on Friday (9).

In practice, the change allows for the return of face-to-face activities in public and private schools, as long as they are authorized by city halls, in addition to the opening of some essential services that were banned and professional sports competitions.

What changes:

• Schools will be able to receive students in person as long as they are authorized by city halls; state network resumes April 14

• Professional sports competitions, with the Paulista Football Championship

• Services for the removal of restaurants and the operation of building material stores, although they were already permitted through a court injunction, are now authorized by the state management

What remains:

• Prohibition of face-to-face religious services.

• Telecommuting recommendation

• Recommendation for scheduling alternate schedules for the service, trade and industry sectors.

• Curfew from 8:00 pm to 5:00 am

What can work in the red phase?

• Schools and universities

• Hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, dentists and animal health establishments (veterinarians)

• Supermarkets, hypermarkets, butchers and bakeries, supplement stores, street markets

• Delivery and drive-thru for bars, snack bars and restaurants: delivery services allowed

• Supply chain and logistics, agricultural production and agribusiness, carriers, warehouses, gas stations and building materials stores

  • Car rental companies, vehicle workshops, public mass transit, taxis, transportation apps, delivery services and parking lots

• Public and private security services

• Civil construction and industry

• Media, journalistic and radio broadcasting companies and of sounds and images

• Other services: churches and religious establishments, laundries, cleaning services, hotels, maintenance and janitorial services, banking services (including lotteries), call center services, technical assistance and newsstands.

What cannot work in the red phase:

• Academies

• Churches and religious activities

• Beauty salons

• Movie theaters

• Theaters

• Shopping malls

• Street stores

• Concessionaires

• Offices

• Parks

• Clubs
