IRPF 2021 : IRS detects new fraud in e-mail regarding income tax

Fraudsters use false residual balance information in the last statement to attract potential victims.

The IRS detected a fraud committed through electronic messages that inform the taxpayer the ‘residual balance of the last IRPF’. The agency warns that it does not forward e-mail or messages of any kind that contain taxpayer data, request personal information or report income tax and ongoing proceedings.

The only message that the taxpayer can receive from the IRS, in his e-mail or cell phone, is an alert about the existence of important messages in e-CAC.

To avoid inconvenience, the IRS recommends that the taxpayer does not click on any link in an email received on behalf of the institution, even if it seems legitimate.
